Renata Stone’s Story of Battling & Surviving Brain Cancer

Posted on: June 12, 2024

A story of survival from our very own Senior Vice President of Marketing

June is National Cancer Survivor Month, and Renata Stone, our Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, knows first-hand the journey of battling and surviving brain cancer. The team at Unifeye Vision Partners stands behind all of those who have battled with cancer (past or present) and send our support.

Renata Stone Triathlete

When Renata received her diagnosis, she was at a loss for words. It felt surreal, like a bad dream from which she needed to wake up. As a triathlete, vegan, and someone who embraced a healthy lifestyle, the diagnosis was shocking – especially since she was six months pregnant.

“I was terrified that I might not see my newborn baby or be there for my toddler son. With no family history of brain cancer, I never imagined this could happen to me.”

She faced the guilt of being unable to consistently be with her baby during the first eight months of his life, whom she spent one hour after his birth with before being taken away to start chemotherapy.

Throughout this ordeal, Renata was blessed with a special support system that gave her the strength to persevere.

“I firmly believe that my incredible team of physicians, my friends and family saved my life. Their overwhelming love and support gave me the resilience to keep going.”

A New Perspective

Renata’s battle with cancer has profoundly changed her life for the better. She no longer lives in fear and approaches life with a newfound perspective.

“I am more grateful, more alive, more joyful, and more liberated from my mental constructs than ever before.”

Renata also expressed deep gratitude for the medical industry and the importance of having an exceptional team of doctors. At one point, over 24 doctors worked on her case to safely deliver her baby. Renata’s extensive research to find the best doctors was crucial to her and her child’s survival.

“I am incredibly grateful for being in the medical industry and understanding the importance of having the best medical team. Their expertise and dedication were vital in my journey.”

Recently celebrating her 40th birthday, a milestone she once feared she might not reach, Renata is now determined to give back to the cancer survivor community. She plans to create educational videos to help patients navigate hospital billing and is committed to supporting others through her work with Unifeye Vision Partners.

Renata’s journey through cancer and her recovery is a testament to resilience, the power of support, and the impact of a positive attitude. We are truly honored to have her as part of our leadership team.
